Del Universo no se conocen más que las migajas: el 96% está hecho de materia y energía oscuras. Este adjetivo no se refiere a un poder maligno de estas entidades. Más prosaicamente, los científicos lo han elegido porque no tienen idea de lo que las compone. La materia normal y corriente --es decir, la hecha por átomos-- alcanzaría tan solo el 4% o el 5% del cosmos. Un 20% o 21% estaría compuesto por materia de naturaleza desconocida y otro 75% por energía ignota.
